“The last lifeguard”
The beach is nearly empty, the water has withdrawn, and the lifeguard — dressed in a red coat — becomes a small yet powerful symbol of human presence within a vast natural space.
I am drawn to the tension between responsibility and isolation.
A lifeguard is someone whose purpose is to protect others, even when there is no one left on the shore. Walking along an empty beach, the figure becomes a quiet witness, a guardian without an audience.
By photographing from above and from a distance, I reduce the human form to a moving mark between sand and sea. The coastline becomes a stage for silence, memory, and observation.
These images are not tied to a specific location; they reflect an emotional state — the moment when the world feels both beautiful and emptied, and one person carries the meaning of being there.
